The Business of PR Getting More: How To Negotiate For Greater Success In Work and Life

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

A talk with Stuart Diamond, Negotiation Professor at The Wharton School, former Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times journalist, and New York Times Bestselling Author of “Getting More: How To Negotiate to Achieve Your Goals in the Real World”

Could you negotiate complimentary coffee for your morning meeting?  Or a placement in the Wall Street Journal?  How about a 12,000-person Hollywood Writers Strike?

Join us as we sit down with Stuart Diamond to learn the “12 Invisible Strategies” that have helped more than 30,000 communicators, CEOs, lawyers, diplomats and more save billions of dollars, improve professional relationships and negotiate their way to the top.  This new model of interactions has been chosen by companies like Google to train its entire company worldwide - and now PRSA members can get in on the secret too!

The business world is notoriously perceived as combative and dominated by an aggressive conflict model of negotiaton, where power and leverage are often the names of the game.  Communicators are no strangers to this game, negotiating daily with internal teams, organizational leaders, clients and journalists.  Using the strategies from his book, Getting More - named the “No. 1 book to read for your career” by Wall Street Journal’s FINS blog - Diamond shows how straying from this combative model provides an enormous strategic and business advantage.  The negotiation model was used to quickly solve the 2008 Hollywood Writer’s Strike.

Armed with new persuasive power, you and your business or client will be more competitive than ever before.  It is intended to provide better agreements for everyone no matter what they negotiate - from jobs, to billion dollar deals, to getting that coveted feature story.

About Stuart Diamond
Stuart Diamond has taught and advised on negotiation to corporate and government leaders in more than 45 countries.  He has an MBA with distinction from Wharton, and a law degree from Harvard.  He has consulted extensively for the United Nations, and has taught professionals from more than 200 of the Fortune 500 companies.  In a previous career, he was a journalist for the New York Times, where he won the Pulitzer Prize as a part of the team investigating the crash of the space shuttle Challenger in 1986.
