AAA Mid-Atlantic Wins Silver Anvil Award Award for Excellence in Public Relations 06/29/2009
AAA Mid-Atlantic captured a highly coveted Silver Anvil Award for Excellence in Public Relations at the 2009 Public Relations Society of America annual awards ceremony in New York City held June 4, 2009.
Accepting the award was Catherine Rossi, Manager of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic. AAA Mid-Atlantic was the only organization in the Delaware-Philadelphia region to capture a prestigious top award. The top honors for AAA Mid-Atlantic were a first for the organization, which is headquartered in Wilmington, Del.
The honor came in the Special Events category for public relations efforts related to Delaware Teen Driving Day. Delaware Teen Driving Day was a unique interactive event held at Dover International Speedway in April 2008 - aimed at changing teen driving behavior. Because motor vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of deaths and injuries for teens, AAA Mid-Atlantic developed a comprehensive, integrated program for teens and parents.
Also at the ceremony, AAA Mid-Atlantic received a Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation for its testimony against toll hikes proposed by the Delaware River Port Authority. Bronze Anvil Awards recognize outstanding public relations tactics, or the individual items or components of public relations programs.
