Public Relations Society of America Philadelphia Chapter Announces New Committee to Support Region’s Nonprofits

 Nonprofit Resource Committee presents first event with “Speed Coaching for Nonprofits” 

PHILADELPHIA (June 18, 2012) — The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Philadelphia Chapter announces the formation of the Nonprofit Resource Committee, a new initiative that brings nonprofit and public relations professionals together for educational, networking and service opportunities.  Kory M. Aversa, Aversa PR & Events owner, will chair the inaugural committee.  Activities will include educational workshops, industry happy hours, coaching opportunities and days of service. The committee’s first event, “Speed Coaching for Nonprofits,” takes place on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Replica Creative, 33 South 18th Street, Philadelphia.  For more information about the committee or event, visit www.prsa.philly.org, or contact Aversa at 215-840-9216 or kory@aversapr.com. 

“The board of the PRSA Philly is committed to supporting the nonprofit community in a meaningful way,” said Blair Kahora Cardinal, 2012 Philadelphia PRSA president and account supervisor at Buchanan Public Relations. “We want to support the PR efforts of the organizations that better our communities. ” 

“Speed Coaching for Nonprofits, the committee’s kick-off event, will take place on Thursday, June 28, 2012, from 5:30pm to 8:00pm, at Replica Creative, 33 South 18th Street, Philadelphia. Philadelphia’s top public relations pros will provide coaching for nonprofits about public relations, social media, communications, branding and partnerships. Confirmed coaches include:

  • Advertising, Marketing, Media Sponsorships – Dan Calhoun, Philadelphia Gay News
  • Crisis Communications, Partnerships, Government Relations – Linda Woody, Association Headquarters
  • Branding, Printing and Design – Representative from Replica Creative
  • Building Your Nonprofit Brand – Christine D. Shiffer, American Board of Surgery
